We announce a full online course and a 2-day in-person training. In addition, it is possible to participate in only one or more live webinars.

 

Full online Papillon Course - running from September 15, 2024 to May 31, 2025

Essence of the Course

  • Presenting a full curriculum on thyroid ultrasound and related topics including the parathyroid, the neck lymph nodes and discussion of differential diagnostic issues in details.
  • Requires a significant investment from the participants, ranges from weekly 6 to 10 hours depending on the level of their pre-course knowledge.

Who is the course for?

  • For colleagues who want to perform ultrasound themselves but have minimal if any experience.
  • For experienced ultrasonographers who wish to improve their diagnostic skills.
  • For clinicians who do not want to perform ultrasound themselves but use thyroid ultrasound in their everyday practice.

Elements of the course

Materials on the web

Thyroid ultrasound and the ultrasound of the parathyroid and neck lymph nodes are presented in 31 chapters. Most chapters are consisted of

  • 20-60-minute-long pre-recorded introductory lecture
  • Written manual
  • Comparative tables serving the presentation and solution of differential diagnostic issues
  • 20 to 80 case studies including voice-narrated HD ultrasound videos
  • Videolibrary for self-test

These materials will be available on the web and watching and studying them requires independent work from the participants. It takes weekly 6 to 10 hours investment during the 34 weeks of the course.

Case of the Month section

From October 2024 to May 2025, by the 1st day of each month, we present two to four cases with related CRF (questionnaire). You have three weeks to submit your answers. On the last day of the month, we will publish the distribution of answers to each question with expert commentary. For an example click here.

Live webinars

Type 1 Webinar - live, common discussion of ultrasound videos

Ten such 90-minute live events will take place which are related to the 27 chapters of the curriculum presented on the web. In these events we discuss with the participants ultrasound videos of 6 to 10 cases. The videos to be discussed will be presented in advance on the website.

Type 2 Webinar - live presentation

Twenty-three lectures will be presented by renowned experts of the thyroid on eleven different occasions. Two 30-min presentations followed by 15-min discussions are the structure of such events. There are partly related to the first 27 chapters, partly to themes (e.g. cytology, histology, surgery, other imaging modalities) which are not directly linked to ultrasound.

Conditions for completing the advanced course

  • To participate (i.e. to submit the answers) in 5 out of 8 Case of the Months events.
  • To complete 5 exams which are presented in Chapter Echogenicity, Intranodular echogenic figures, Nodule' borders and TIRADS of Section 2, and in Chapter Lesion vs. nodule of Section 6. These five exams can be passed continuously from the beginning of the course. In all five exams, a success rate of 75% is required for a Course Certificate. There is no limit to the number of attempts. Feedback is only sent to us when someone has reached 75%.

Individual webinars of the Advanced Course

Essence of this opportunity

  • 22 live webinars are announced which are all included in the Advanced Course.
    • Joint analysis of ultrasound videos. In these 10 events, a short summary of the topic is followed by common discussion of 6 to 12 cases.
    • Lectures. In 23 lectures at 12 occasions renowned international experts of the topic will hold a 30-minute presentation which is followed by a 15-minute discussion.
  • The recorded version of the webinars will be available till the end of the course. This provides the opportunity either to review the learning material or to view the webinar for those who could not attend the event at the given time.

  • On the one hand, this is for colleagues who are only interested in one or another topic.
  • Colleagues who have attended previous courses may also be interested in the opportunity.

Two-day in-person training on May 30-31, 2025

This event will be held on May 30-31, 2025, in Budapest. During this 14-hour meeting live-patient examinations will be performed and we commonly analyze ultrasound videos. The number of participants is limited to 30 on first apply first served basis. We accept application from colleagues who have been participated in the previous two Papillon Courses or registered to the 2024-2025 Papillon Course.
