Clinical presentation: a 54-year-old woman was referred for evaluation of a thyroid nodule discovered on carotid Doppler examination. She has has been treated for hypothyroidism for seven years.

Palpation: a soft nodule in the right lobe.

Laboratory test: TSH 2.71 mIU/L on daily 50 microgram levothyroxine.

Lesion in question:

the nodule in the right lobe.
