Clinical presentation. A 75-year-old woman was referred for evaluation of a mild hyperthyroidism. Scintigraphy revealed multiple nodules, none of them functioned autonomously. Methimazole therapy was started 5 weeks before the present examination.
Palpation. Both lobes were greatly enlarged and nodular. None of the nodules was suspicious.
Laboratory test: TSH 0.01 mIU/L, FT4 6.56 pM/L, FT3 3.07 pM/L on daily 40 mg methimazole.
Lesion in question:
a nodule in the right lobe.
