Giant cell variant is the most frequent subtype of anaplastic carcinoma. It is characterized by dispersed, highly enlarged and pleomorphic tumor cells.


Spindle cell variant is the second most frequent subtype. The cells in this variant are very similar to those of a fibrosarcoma.
