The Doppler mode has a very limited role in the event of Hashimoto's thyroiditis. The differential diagnostics of minimal or moderate degree of hyperthyroidism is one of the few exceptions. If such a patient presents a thyroid with a decreased vascularization, then hashitoxicosis is very likely, and the cause for elevated hormon levels is not active hormon produce but destruction.
