Medullary carcinomas - Figure 1. Ultrasound presentation of amyloid. The most specific sonographic sign of medullary carcinoma is the presence of cotton-like hyperechogenic granules. These are much larger than microcalcification and in contrast with coarse callcifications, do not present dorsal acoustic shadow according to the entire extent of the hyperechogenic patch. These correspond to amyloid deposit. |
