Papillary carcinomas - Figure 25. Sonographic signs - the vascular pattern. A type 3 vascular pattern is the characteristic type of blood flow in the event of a papillary carcinoma. It means an increased intranodular blood flow. Nevertheless, this property has only limited significance in the everyday practice. Encapsulated papillary carcinomas present usually a type 2 pattern, i.e. perinodular blood flow, while great proportion of papillary cancers display no vascularization on Doppler mode, i.e. a type 1 pattern. |
