Case 4 (744) - Suspicious signs: a very hypoechoic nodule with irregular borders

Data

Clinical presentation: A 37-year-old woman requested a second opinion. The patient discovered a nodule 3 months ago. On evaluation in another institute, the cytology resulted in Bethesda 3, follicular lesion of unknown significance.

Palpation: There was a firm nodule in the right lobe.

Laboratory tests: TSH 1.02 mIU/L.

Cytology of the largest nodule in the right lobe resulted in papillary cancer.

Histopathology revealed a bilateral, multifocal T1b papillary cancer.
