Case 6 (1100) - Suspicious signs: microcalcifications, irregular shape and diffuse form of Hashimoto's thyroiditis

Clinical presentation: A 56-yr-old man was referred for evaluation of nodular goiter which has been detected on screening. The patient has been treated for hypothyroidism for more than 10 years.

Palpation: no abnormality.

Laboratory tests: TSH 5.02 mIU/L on daily 50 microgram levothyroxine.

The dimensions of the nodule in the right lobe were 7x9x8 mm, width, depth, length.

Histopathology revealed Hashimoto's thyroiditis and papillary cancer.
