Right lobe, longitudinal scan

Pap-smear, 1000x.   The nuclei are round to oval. The enlarged, atypical cells on the right display pleomorphism. The latter is not a frequent finding in a parathyroid adenoma. Nevertheless, atypia and even pleomorphism of single cells has to be interpreted with great care in hormonally active organs.
