TIRADS - case 1047

/only for Videolibrary and Exam/

Clinical presentation: An 81-yr-old woman was referred for evaluation of a nodule in the right lobe which was detected on PET-CT scan. The patient was operated on colon cancer 11 months ago.

Palpation: no abnormality.

Laboratory tests: TSH 3.92 mIU/L, aTPO 2 U/mL.

Ultrasonography. The thyroid was minimally hypoechoic and had several discrete lesions. The nodule in the right lobe was clearly iso/hyperechoic while that in the middle dorsal part of the left lobe was very likely also iso/hyperechoic.

Cytology of the nodule in the right lobe resulted in benign colloid goiter.

Comment. The nodule in the right lobe should be classified as an EU-TIRADS 3 nodule.
