Clinical data. A 35-year-old woman discovered a lump in the right thyroid lobe several months ago.
Palpation: There was a not firm nodule in the right lobe.
Functional state: TSH 1.15 mIU/L.
Ultrasonography. The thyroid was echonormal. There were a mixed nodule in the ventral part of the right lobe. The solid part was echonormal or minimally hypoechoic. The lesion presented halo and perinodular vascularity.
Cytology was repeatedly non-diagnostic.
Comment. The nodule is very likely a follicular tumor, it is solitary and presents both ultrasound signs of a capsule, it is surrounded with halo and shows perilesional blood flow. On the other hand, the risk of a follicular cancer is negligible in cystically degenerated follicular tumor.
