Left lobe, transverse view. This hypoechogenic-cystic area was described as a suspicious nodule on the previous ultrasound report. Note that in contrast with a nodule in pathological sense, this lesion is not regular geometrical and there are many other similar, smaller areas in the thyroid. The intralesional hyperechogenic figures were misinterpreted as microcalcifications; these are in fact figures caused by back wall cystic enhancement.
