Case 888 (ultrasonographic picture 7)

Previous picture Back to Case Next picture

Right lobe, longitudinal scan

Lower part of the left lobe, longitudinal view. The lower lesion (right in the image) was held as a suspicious nodule by the colleague who performed the previous ultrasound. There are punctate echogenic granules and lines within the lower hypoechogenic areas. These echogenic figures are presentations of connective tissue and not those of microcalcifications. Moreover, these lesion does not fulfill the criteria of a nodule in a pathological sense. Note the irregular shape and the presence of other similar hypoechogenic areas within the lobe.
