Clinical data

Clinical presentation: A 26-year-old woman has been operated on for papillary cancer. Total thyroidectomy was performed and the patient underwent on radioiodine therapy, five months ago and three months ago, respectively. Post-therapeutic thyroglobulin level was 99.1 ng/mL while 3 months later the TG level fell only to 36.5 ng/mL. An ultrasound examination was initiated.

Palpation: a mass in the lower pole of the left thyroid bed was suspected.

Functional state: TSH 0.06 mIU/L, FT4 27.5 pM/L on daily 175 microgram levothyroxine.
