Intranodular hyperechogenic figures - case conp 052 (ultrasonographic picture 3)

Previous picture Back to Case Next picture

Left lobe, transverse scan. A large nodule occupies almost the entire left thyroid. The nodule has numerous microcalcifications and shows taller-than-wide sign. It is worth noting the diverse appearance of microcalcifications: it is reasonable to suggest that not only the bright granules but even the smaller, less bright powder-like granules are microcalcifications. Although the large hyperechogenic figure having an ovoid shape in the dorso-medial part of the lobe might be a cluster of microcalcification, the unequivocal interpretation of this figure is impossible. The star-like solid central area is also a suspicious sign.
