Clinical data: A 33-year-old woman was referred for follow-up examination. She underwent bilateral subtotal thyroidectomy because of multinodular goiter 3 years ago. Histopathology resulted in benign, hyperplastic nodules. She had no complaints.
Palpation: no abnormality.
Result of blood test: euthyroidism on daily 50 microgram levothyroxine (TSH 1.87 mIU/L).
Ultrasonography. The right lobe was minimally hypoechogenic while the left was echonormal. There were several hypoechogenic areas in both lobes; none of them corresponded to a nodule.
