One of the most frequent presentation of Hashimoto's thyroiditis is the atrophic form caused by long-term destruction of the autoimmune process. It is characterized by the presence of hypoechogenic and echonormal areas. The presence of fibrosis is very common. The vascularization is minimal or absent in most cases of atrophic thyroiditis. The thyroid is decreased in size.
