Compare the two series of pictures. At the first examination (left column), the painful left lobe presented typical signs of subacute thyroiditis, while the right thyroid did not. Thirteen months later (right column), the right thyroid became tender and presented typical sonographic signs of de Quervain's thyroiditis. developed. At this time, the extent of hypoechogenic areas in the left lobe decreased considerably. It is worth mentioning, that the vascularization of the left lobe was even the opposite of the usual findings: at the time of subactute thyroiditis it was increased while later in the course was decreased. |
