Most medullary cancer cells present eccentric nuclei with moderate
amount of well-defined cytoplasm. The tumor cells have polygonal
appearance. Characteristic triangular forms can be found in most cases.

The most characteristic sign is the presence of azurophilic cytoplasmic
granulations. These coarse, bright purple (Wright-Giemsa staining)
structures are neurosecretory granules. |
