Characteristic cytological properties - cellular details
Medullary cancer - Case 9

Most medullary cancer cells present eccentric nuclei with moderate amount of well-defined cytoplasm. The tumor cells have polygonal appearance. Characteristic triangular forms can be found in most cases.

Medullary cancer - Case 13

The most characteristic sign is the presence of azurophilic cytoplasmic granulations. These coarse, bright purple (Wright-Giemsa staining) structures are neurosecretory granules.
