Nodular goiter

Next

Clinical presentation: A 42-yr-old woman was referred for aspiration cytology of a nodule detected on ultrasound screening.

Palpation: no abnormality.

Laboratory test: TSH 2.74 mIU/L.

Ultrasonography. The thyroid was echonormal. There was a hypoechoic lesion in the ventro-lateral part of the right lobe. The nodule had partly blurred, partly lobulated/spiculated margins. Another, less hypoechoic lesion in the dorsal part of the right lobe had blurred borders.

Cytology resulted in benign lesion.
