Pap staining has one important disadvantage to Wright-Giemsa staining: the cytoplasmic fine granulation is more difficult to judge and therefore the judgement of an oxyphilic metaplasia is not infrequently not possible. Nevertheless, the cells presented in this image present probably oxyphilic changes.
