Pap-smear, 1000x. Atypical follicular cells are located in irregular groups with nuclear overlapping. It would be a very difficult task to give cytological diagnosis on this smear. We think that this pattern corresponds to atypia of unknown significance. The nuclear atypia does not fulfills the criteria of a suspicion of follicular or papillary carcinoma.
