Clinical presentation: A 39-year-old woman requested a second opinion. She has been known to have a nodular goiter since childhood. A dominantly solid nodule in the left lobe has previously been categorized as Bethesda III (atypia of unknown significance). m99Tc scan showed multiple cold nodules in both lobes.

Palpation: Both lobes were nodular on palpation.

Laboratory test: TSH 0.20 mIU/L, FT4 16.7 pM/L.

Lesion in question:

the largest nodule in the upper-middle third of the right lobe.

Additional information on the lesion

Dimensions (width x depth x length): 17x18x16 mm.

Taller-than wide sign present: present.

Intranodular vascularization: present.

Pathologic adenopathy: absent.
