Clinical presentation: A 82-year-old man was referred for an evaluation of a rapidly increasing mass in the left thyroid lobe. The tumor evolved over 3 weeks and caused palsy of the left recurrent laryngeal nerve and dysphagia.
Palpation: a very hard, fixed left thyroid.
Laboratory test: TSH 2.32 mIU/L, FT4 18.6 pM/L.
Lesion in question:
the entire left lobe.
Additional information on the lesion
Dimensions (width x depth x length): 38x33x58 mm.
Taller-than wide sign present: absent.
Intranodular vascularization: absent.
Pathologic adenopathy: absent.
