Clinical presentation: A 39-year-old woman was referred for evaluation of a thyroid nodule known for years. The patient was euthyroid and did not get any medication for thyroid disease. She noticed a rapid growth in the size of the nodule in the previous several months.

Palpation: There was a very firm nodule in the isthmus.

Laboratory test: TSH 0.86 mIU/L.

Lesion in question:

the nodule in the isthmus. The size of the lesion had increased by more than 300% in volume in the past five years.

Additional information on the lesion

Dimensions (width x depth x length): 60x29x64 mm.

Taller-than wide sign present: absent.

Intranodular vascularization: present.

Pathologic adenopathy: absent.
