Left lobe, longitudinal scan. This is a very common pattern of a resected thyroid: a central hypoechogenic field is surrounded with echonormal tissue. There are two traps worth avoiding. First, this is not a recurrent nodular goiter. The irregular shape stands against this possibility. The borders between the different nodule-like lesions are caused only by scars. Second, the irregular, lobulated surface of the hypoechoic mass should not be interpreted as irregular margin of a nodule.
