Lymphocytic thyroiditis - case 1440 (ultrasonographic picture 4)

Previous picture Back to Case Next picture

Right lobe, longitudinal scan

Left lobe, longitudinal scan. The pattern highly resembles the central hypoechoic area-type form of lymphocytic thyroiditis. However, there is no echonormal rim in the ventral part. And even more importantly, in contrast to the central hypoechoic-type form, this pattern can be observed only in one lobe and not in both lobes. On the lack of echogenic lines, the hyperechogenic granules are very likely microcalcifications.
