Next

Clinical presentation: A 53-year-old woman was referred for evaluation of nodular goiter detected on screening.

Palpation: no abnormality.

Functional state: euthyroidism (TSH 0.61 mIU/L).

Ultrasonography. The thyroid was echonormal. There were two hypoechogenic, inhomogeneous nodules, one in the right and another one in the left lobe. Both lesions presented regular borders and a combined type 2 and type 3 vascular pattern.

Cytology was performed from both nodules and resulted in benign lesion.

Suggestion: repeat ultrasound examination in three years.
