Clinical data

Clinical presentation: A 46-year-old woman was referred for evaluation of a thyroid nodule. The patient discovered a painless mass in the left submandibular area a few weeks ago. Ultrasound disclosed enlarged lymph node according to the palpable mass and a multinodular goiter.

Palpation: a hard nodule in the left lobe and an enlarged, firm lymph node 4 cm-s above the left thyroid lobe.

Laboratory test: TSH 1.26 mIU/L.

Dimensions of the lesions to which the question are directed:

nodule in the right lobe: 9x10x10 mm, nodule in the left lobe: 14x16x16 mm (width, depth, length, respectively).
