Section 2 The nodular goiter

Clinical data: A 71-year-old woman was referred for evaluation of a nodule discovered on carotid Doppler examination.

Palpation: a moderately firm nodule in the left lobe.

Laboratory data: euthyroidism with subnormal TSH (TSH 0.23 mIU/L, FT4 16.9 pM/L, FT3 4.03 pM/L).
