Clinical data: An 82-yr-old woman came to a follow-up examination. Total thyroidectomy has been performed for 15 years. Histopathology disclosed papillary carcinoma. The patient has got radioiodine therapy. Ten years later aspiration cytology disclosed recurrent disease in the right thyroid bed. Ethanol sclerotherapy was performed. The thyroglobulin level was 7.1 ng/dl before the sclerotherapy.
Palpation: no abnormality in the thyroid.
Laboratory data: TSH 3.17 mIU/L on daily 100 microgram levothyroxine, thyroglobulin 3.8 ng/dL, anti-hTG 11 U/mL.
