Next

Clinical presentation: A 25-year-old woman was referred for aspiration cytology of a nodule detected on preoperative ultrasound. Surgery was planned because of relapsing hyperthyroidism.

Palpation: no abnormality.

Laboratory tests: TSH 4.99 mIU/L, FT4 9.83 pM/L on daily 20 mg propylthiouracil.

Ultrasonography. The thyroid was echonormal and had tiny hypoechogenic areas without any oncological and clinical significance. The vascularization was average.

Histopathology: Diffuse goiter corresponding to Graves' diseases.

Comment. The lesions found in this patient on ultrasound must not be held as abnormal, moreover the presentation of them stands against pathological nodule.
