Except for the vascularization, the echopatterns are almost identical irrespectively of the hormonal status. Nevertheless, the thyroid became less hypoechogenic after the attack of post partum thyroiditis. The decreased vascularization at the time of hyperthyroidism has clinical relevance: it stands against the possibility of active hormon-producing disease and stands for the possibility of destruction as a cause for elevated FT4-level. |
