Papillary carcinoma in Hashimoto's thyroiditis - table 2
Left lobe, horizontal view
Left lobe, longitudinal view

The hypoechogenic nodule with mircrocalcifications occupies a great part of the lobe. It has irregular, puzzle-like sharp borders. Beside the tumor there is a smaller and there are two tiny moderately hypoechogenic lesions marked with green in the left picture corresponding to lymphocytic thyroiditis. There is a moderately hypoechogenic (marked with blue) and a hypoechogenic lesion (marked with red) in the right picture. These are foci of lymphocytic thyroiditis. Compare the hypoechogenic focus of lymphocytic thyroiditis and that of papillary cancer in the left image. The former is regular, while the latter has blurred borders and contains microcalcifications.
