Cytological subtypes - spindle cell, small cell and giant cell variant
Spindle cell variant (Medullary cancers - Case 8)

Small cell variant (Medullary cancers - Case 10)

Giant cell variant (Medullary cancers - Case 16)

Among other than lymphoplasmacytoid variants, spindle cell form is the most frequent. These types of medullary cancer may cause more frequently differential diagnostic problems. As a rule, if we have the least suspicion that the patient has medullary cancer, serum calcitonin measurement is obligatory.
