We announce two courses and a 2-day in-person training. In addition, it is possible to participate in only one or more live webinars.

 

The Basic Course - running from September 15, 2022 to November 30, 2022

Goals of the Course

  • Being able to identify the thyroid on ultrasound.
  • Becoming familiar with the different elements of a thyroid ultrasound pattern.
  • Becoming able to recognize the typical presentations of the single characteristics

Who is the basic course for?

  • For BEGINNES who want to perform ultrasound themselves but have minimal if any experience
  • For ULTRASOUND REPORT UTILIZERS clinicians who do not want to perform ultrasound themselves but use thyroid ultrasound in their everyday practice

Elements of the course

Materials on the web

The characteristics of the nodular goiter are discussed in 9 chapters. Each chapter is consisted of

  • a short, pre-recorded introductory lecture,
  • a voice-narrated video lecture consisting of 10-20 cases of ultrasound video,
  • and 10-25 related case studies, also including voice-narration ultrasound recordings.

These materials will be available on the web and watching and studying them requires independent work from the participants. It takes around 40 hours investment from the participant.

Interactive quiz

Six chapters have this item. Two or three ultrasound videos are presented, and the participants should answer the related questionnaire.

Live webinars

Type 2 Webinar - live presentation

On September 22, two live 30-minute lectures will be presented, each followed by a 15-min discussion. These cover the Physics of ultrasound and the Epidemiology of thyroid diseases

Type 1 Webinar - common discussion of ultrasound videos

Five such 90-minute live events will take place when we discuss with the participants ultrasound videos of 6 to 10 cases. The videos to be discussed will be presented in advance on the website.

Conditions for completing the basic course

  • To submit the answers in 4 of the 6 quizzes.
  • To complete the exam by November 15, 2022. The exam can be reached on the website from October 15, 2022.

The Advanced Course - running from December 1, 2022 to May 31, 2023

Essence of the Course

  • Presenting a full curriculum on thyroid ultrasound and related topics including the parathyroid, the neck lymph nodes and discussion of differential diagnostic issues in details
  • Requires a significant investment from the participants, ranges from weekly 6 to 10 hours depending on the level of their pre-course knowledge

Who is the advanced course for?

  • For WISH-TO-LEARN colleagues who want to perform ultrasound themselves but have minimal if any experience. It is strongly recommended them to participate in the Basic Course, too.
  • For EXPERIENCED ultrasonographer
  • For ULTRASOUND REPORT UTILIZERS clinicians who do not want to perform ultrasound themselves but use thyroid ultrasound in their everyday practice. For such colleagues we suggest choosing the Advance Course without Type 1 Webinars.

Elements of the course

Materials on the web

Thyroid ultrasound and the ultrasound of the parathyroid and neck lymph nodes are presented in 27 chapters. Most chapters are consisted of

  • 20-60-minute-long pre-recorded introductory lecture
  • Written manual
  • Comparative tables serving the presentation and solution of differential diagnostic issues
  • 20 to 80 case studies including voice-narrated HD ultrasound videos
  • Videolibrary for self-test

These materials will be available on the web and watching and studying them requires independent work from the participants. It takes weekly 6 to 10 hours investment during the 30 weeks of the course.

Case of the Month section

From December 2022 to May 2023, by the 1st day of each month, we present two to four cases with related CRF (questionnaire). You have three weeks to submit your answers. On the last day of the month, we will publish the distribution of answers to each question with expert commentary. For an example click here.

Live webinars

Type 1 Webinar - live, common discussion of ultrasound videos

Seven such 90-minute live events will take place which are related to the 27 chapters of the curriculum presented on the web. In these events we discuss with the participants ultrasound videos of 6 to 10 cases. The videos to be discussed will be presented in advance in the website.

Type 2 Webinar - live presentation

Eighteen lectures will be presented by renowned experts of the thyroid on nine different occasions. Two 30-min presentations followed by 15-min discussions are the structure of such events. There are partly related to the first 27 chapters, partly to themes (e.g. cytology, histology, surgery, other imaging modalities) which are not directly linked to ultrasound.

Conditions for completing the advanced course

  • To participate (i.e. to submit the answers) in 5 out of 7 Case of the Months events.
  • To complete 5 exams which are presented in Chapter Echogenicity, Intranodular echogenic figures, Nodule' borders and TIRADS of Section 2, and in Chapter Lesion vs. nodule of Section 6. These five exams can be passed continuously from the beginning of the course. In all five exams, a success rate of 75% is required for a Course Certificate. There is no limit to the number of attempts. Feedback is only sent to us when someone has reached 75%

Individual courses of the Advanced Course

Essence of this opportunity

  • 16 live webinars are announced which are all included in the Advanced Course.
    • Joint analysis of ultrasound videos. In these 7 events, a short summary of the topic is followed by common discussion of 10 to 20 cases.
    • Lectures. In 15 lectures at 7 occasions renowned international experts of the topic will held a 30-minute presentation which is followed by a 15-minute discussion.
    • In 2 webinars, a 30-minute lecture will be followed by common discussion of ultrasound videos.
  • The recorded version of the webinars will be available for a month after the event. This provides the opportunity either to review the event or to view the webinar for those who could not attend the event at the given time.

Who is this opportunity for?

  • On the one hand, this is for colleagues who are only interested in one or another topic.
  • Colleagues who have attended previous courses may also be interested in the opportunity.

Two-day in-person training on May 19-20, 2023

This event will be held on May 19-20, 2023, in Budapest. During this 14-hour meeting live-patient examinations will be performed and we commonly analyse ultrasound videos. The number of participants is limited to 30 on first apply first served basis.
