Clinical data

First examination

Clinical data: A 33-year-old woman was referred for evaluation of complaints suggesting subacute thyroiditis. 3 weeks after COVID-19 infection, the right thyroid lobe became painful and fever had fever. CRP was above 100 ng/dL, FT4 40.2 pM/L. Daily 10 mg methimazole and non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug was administered 11 days before the present examination. The complaints of the patient improved only minimally.

Palpation: the right lobe was tender and firm while the left lobe was painful and very hard.

Laboratory evaluation: TSH 0.001 mIU/L, FT4 48.9 pM/L, CRP 62.3 mg/L.

Third examination (8 months later)

Clinical data: Two 6-week course of steroid was administered, the second therapy was ceased 4 months ago. Except for fatigues and hairloss, the patient was free of complaints.

Palpation: no abnormality.

Laboratory evaluation: TSH 1.93 mIU/L, FT4 48.9 pM/L, CRP 2.1 mg/L.
