Medullary carcinoma - Case 12. (ultrasonographic picture 4)
Right lobe, horizontal scan. Lateral to the artery there is a hypoechogenic lesion which sonographic pattern is identical with the tumor seen within the thyroid. The former is caused by direct spread of the tumor outside the thyroid.
