Clinical presentation: a 22-year-old woman was referred for an evaluation of hyperthyroidism. She delivered 7 weeks earlier.
Functional state: mild hyperthyroidism (TSH 0.02 mIU/L, FT4 29.1 pM/L, FT3 7.07 pM/L).
Ultrasonography: revealed echonormal thyroids with hypoechogenic areas. The echogenicity index was 15%. There was a large, inhomogeneous nodule with a halo sign and perinodular blood flow in the left lobe.
Cytological report: Hürthle-cell tumor.
Anti-TPO determination: 307 IU/ml. The patient had post partum thyroiditis too. 18 month later she underwent surgery.
Histopathology: disclosed Hürthle-cell adenoma and Hashimoto`s thyroiditis in the non-nodular part of the lobe.
