Clinical data: a 35-year-old woman was referred for an evaluation of subclinical hypothyroidism detected on an investigation performed because of sterility.
Palpation: no abnormality.
Result of blood tests: subclinical hypothyroidism with TSH-level 5.74 mIU/L, FT4 14.8 pM/L, anti-TPO 229 U/mL.
Ultrasonography: the thyroid was minimally hypoechogenic and inhomogeneous. There was not any nodule present.
Clinical diagnosis: autoimmune thyroiditis, subclinical hypothyroidism.
