Clinical data: a 50-year-old woman was referred for aspiration cytology. The patient discovered a nodule in her left thyroid three month ago. The patient was evaluated in another hospital. Scintigraphy disclosed a "cold nodule" in the left lobe. lAspiration cytology resulted in follicular tumor. The surgeon requested the cytology of the nodule in the contralateral lobe. No thyroid medication was administered.

Palpation: a large nodule in the left lobe.

Functional state: subclinical hyperthyroidism (TSH 0.07 mIU/L, FT4 7.57 pM/L).

 

The lesion in question is located in the right lobe. (The lesion displayed no vascularization on Doppler mode.)
