Differential diagnostic of hyperechogenic intranodular granules - table 15
Benign hyperplastic nodule
Papillary carcinoma

The benign nodule contains non-specific figures and presents irregular borders. There were three different entities in the right case. The largest nodule marked with green proved to be an adenoma, the ventral lesion marked with yellow presenting comet-tail artifact did a hyperplastic nodule, while the lesion next to the adenoma marked with red was a papillary carcinoma. Compare the comet tail artifact with the hyperechogenic figures in the malignant focus. The latter may be either microcalcifications or non-specific granules.
