Clinical presentation: A 59-year old woman requested a second opinion. She has been treated for hypothyroidism for five years. On follow-up examination a thyroid nodule was diagnosed in the left thyroid and aspiration cytology resulted in oxyphilic tumor, suspicion of oxyphilic variant of papillary carcinoma in another institute.

Palpation: The thyroid was firm, without any nodules.

Laboratory test: TSH 7.24 mIU/L, aTPO 708 U/mL on daily 75 microgram levothyroxine.

Lesion in question:

the discrete lesion in the left lobe.

Additional information on the lesion

Dimensions (width x depth x length): 13x9x13 mm.

Taller-than wide sign present: absent.

Intranodular vascularization: absent.

Pathologic adenopathy: absent.
