Clinical presentation: A 17-year-old girl was referred for evaluation of a goiter detected during screening in the school. She had no complaints.
Palpation: The thyroid was palpable because it was located higher than the usual position. Both lobes were firm but no nodules could be palpated.
Laboratory test: TSH 14.7 mIU/L, Ft4 8.91 pM/L.
Diagnosis. Diagnosis. Primary hypothyroidism caused by Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
Suggestion: daily 50 microgram levothyroxine replacement therapy. TSH check in 3 months. Ultrasound in two years.
