Clinical data

Clinical presentation: A 21-year-old woman has been operated on for a T2N1a papillary cancer for 8 years. Total thyroidectomy and radioiodine therapy were performed. The thyroglobulin level was regularly checked and was always below 0.2 ng/mL. On the last two ultrasound examinations, a hypoechoic lesion with microcalcifications were described in the right thyroid lobe. The patient was referred for aspiration cytology.

Palpation: no abnormality.

Functional state: TSH 0.06 mIU/L, FT4 27.5 pM/L, 'on'-thyroglobulin 0 ng/mL, 'off'-thyroglobulin 0.4 ng/ml, anti-hTg below 20 U/mL on daily 125 microgram levothyroxine.
