Clinical data

Clinical presentation: A 51-yr old man requested evaluation of a thyroid nodule which was noticed by the patient himself 2 months ago. Then 3 mL brown fluid was removed, cytology disclosed benign lesion. The cyst has refilled within a day and neck pain developed which lasted two weeks. There was no fever and the blood count did not indicate inflammation either. At the time of the current examination, he was practically complaint-free, sometimes feeling neck pressure when lying down.

Palpation: a painless, elastic nodule in the right lobe.

Laboratory tests: TSH 1.19 mIU/L.
