Clinical presentation: A 26-yr old woman was referred for evaluation of a nodule detected by screening.

Palpation: The right lobe was enlarged and firmly nodular on palpation.

Laboratory test: TSH 1.26 mIU/L.

Ultrasonography. The thyroid was echonormal. There was a dominantly echonormal, heterogeneous nodule in the left lobe.

Cytology resulted in benign lesion.

Comment. The echogenicity of the nodule and the extranodular part of the lobe were identical. In those parts of the nodule, which did not present halo sign, the nodule was located adjacent to the extranodular part. The borders of the nodule were indistinctive in this location. This type of blur is not of pathological origin.
