The shape of the nodule - case 2051 |
|
Clinical data: A 52-yr-old man came to a follow-up of nodule which has been known for 5 years. At the time of diagnosis aspiration cytology was performed from two nodules in the left lobe. FNA resulted in follicular tumor in the largest lesion. The patient had no complaints and refused to undergo surgery.
Palpation: a moderately firm nodule in the left lobe.
Laboratory test: TSH 1.53 mIU/L.
Ultrasonography. The thyroid was echonormal. There were two nodules in the left lobe. The upper, minimally-moderately hypoechoic showed taller-than-wide sign and had two microcalcifications. The lower nodule was a dominantly echonormal lesion. This showed an incomplete halo and signs of perinodular blood flow. The volume of the nodules has not been changed since their recognition.
Suggestion ultrasound in 2 years.
