Hypoechogenic lesions in lymphocytic thyroiditis. Nodule or not nodule? Table 11 - Case 81
Left lobe, horizontal scan
Left lobe, longitudinal scans

The thyroid contains several minimally-moderately hypoechogenic fields with ill-defined borders and small discrete hypoechogenic areas. These are ultrasound presentations of lymphocytic thyroiditis. There us another lesion demonstrated in the horizotal view which is larger, has regular borders and contains a comet tail artefact. This lesion corresponds to a small hyperplastic-cystic nodule.
